I believe that this video is showing how reliant and dependent we are becomming on technology today. It shows how the old style of learning by the book is out and unheard of. Now, if somebody needs to know something about history or even anything they can possibly think of they can just type in a few keywords on a search engine, press enter, and there you have it! Everything you need to know is on the internet. I love that everything is accesible on the internet nowadays, but i do always love the feeling of reading something out of a book, because a book is tangible. A computer is tangible but the internet is not, there is just something I miss about holding a book and reading it. I think this video always shows how uneducated the American teenager is when it comes to researching out of a reference book. Wouldnt researching out of a book just be so much easyier if you could zoom in, copy, paste, scroll down, and click? I think this shows that we as teenagers have become so reliant on using the internet for their resources, it becomes fustrating for them when they have to read out of a book because books are not as accesible as the internet is.

This really puts in perspective about how society is becoming a bunch of lazy people who are so dependent on technology that they cannot live without it. I remember once in middle school a teacher took away a kid's iPod and he cried about it. Crying, in middle school, over a piece of electronics. As I walk around Campus during lunch mostly everyone is listening to music or watching videos and whatnot on their technological gizmos, and it depresses me. I do not want to live in a society so dependent on little gadgets and the latest phone. I personally do not have either a cell phone or iPod and couldn't be happier. Earlier in the year Ms. Wantz asked the class what we would take on a deserted island, and most people said their phone/iPod and an electrical generator to power it. I think that we need to understand technology, use it as a tool, but not become dependent on it and stay with books, paper, and other unfortunatly outdated methods.

In the video, we have some students pondering over a book, trying to make it do things that their computer can. They expect everything to happen at a push of a button, but if they took five minutes to go buy a magnifier, they would have the print bigger! I could tell it was kind of a joke, or a statement about society, and it would be a lot better if people were not like this in real life.

This video shows the importance of technology; for example a computer. It shows how the world has developed in terms of ability and usage of machines. At first I thought he was being for real, but soon I realized that the "whole crew" was giggling and filled with laughter. I saw that they were making a point. About how computers are a reliable source these days. And most people need them to "survive". Using a computer has some disadvantages like using the web for homework; to google english homework. Instead of doing the notes the long way out. It only hurts us. On the other hand, it can cost schools less money having no textbooks. Cierra brought up a good point in how Mr. Dustan told us to put our textbooks under our beds. And he was right. We can find most of the information online using. And if we have to remember something important, we can "yahoo" or "google" it, in instance. It is fast easy and free. But the video shows that our minds are too focused on the easy work the computer does for us. Then again its good to be easy. Obviously, an example was set using the textbook. It just comes to show that computers are ruling the planet. And they just maybe controlling us.

Personally, I think that the USA is becoming to dependent on technology. Back in the day, students used to have to go to the library to be able to access any type of information that they may need. Now students can just turn the internet and search whatever they would like to know into google without even having to break a sweat. I also think that this will hurt students in the since that they are expecting to get everything right away when sometimes it really does take hours and hours to actually figure something out or just to complete something that may be difficult to him/her. Being dependent on computers and the internet can be seen as not to bad because getting information in an instant can be good and also students may be able to get information much quicker and faster so they are able to do a better job on the task that they are trying to complete, like trying to write a huge essay and trying to find information when they really need to working on the quality of there essay instead of wasting all of that time trying to find the information that they are going to be putting into the essay...
I think that this video is a great way to show people how great and advanced computers are. Before computers there were only books to work with. The problem with books is that you only have that source for the information and, as they point out in this video, you cannot just click on a link in a book to get more sources. Also, this video shows how a computer can help to view pictures more than a book can. The picture in a book is just printed so you can not make it any bigger and easier to see. This video shows how a computer and the internet can be much more useful and even better than a book. I also think that this video tells a lot about how our lives have become with techcnology. Books have become so obsolete that we pretty soon will not even be using them instead relying only on the computer. I think that this video is funny and a good idea to point out what computers are becoming in our world today.

I think that it shows how good computers are because textbooks just have one set of information. Also that textbooks just show you a certain amount of text and pictures. Also that they have a certain amount of pictures to and the kid in the video wanted to click on some of the words to look up information on some of the words this shows that a computer would be better information than a book. Since that on a computer you would be able to look up almost any word in any language and find out what it means. Also in the video the kid wanted to drag a photo and save it or something and on a computer or a mac computer you would be able to save it or move it to a flash drive or a disk of some kind. Then in the textbook the kid couldn't remove it without taking out a page this just shows how much technology is changing so much and how much easier it is to look up information on a computer. Also you can find answers to your problems like for example you want to do a project and you can find information about it online and it would just be like asking the person who made it. Finally my final thought about this video is that it is trying to show how much computers are better than text books. But im sure there are advantages and disadvantages for everything.
This video shows the advantages of technology and how dependent students have become to it. Technology lets us do things that normal textbooks could not. Can textbooks save maps? Link to further information? Alter font? Technology advance our understanding and helps learning. Books are dated. "Once these books are printed, they are already dated," said by Mrs. Butler regarding the Biology books. Science and other research and information changes constantly. New inventions, procedure, species, evidence, artifacts... ect. never cease to stop. Books are like those old library check out cards. They work, but just not as well as the updated methods. Also, Mrs. Akl told our class last year that our biology books were just expensive door stoppers.

Although technology is great and all, this video portrays an over exaggerated dependency on it. It seems like students can't do anything traditionally and have to rely on the technology. The student becomes obsolete when technology is unavailable. This reminds of the movie Wall E. The humans depend on technology for entertainment, transportation, communication....EVERYTHING. When John (I think that's his name) falls off his floating thing, he cannot get back up and walk.

I believe that this video could become some what a reality in the future. As technology develops more and more we get more and more reliable on it. We are forgetting more and more how to use simple things. Today we even have electric staplers. If you ask me that is pretty cool but yet we might forget how to use a regular stapler. Because we keep trying to develop more and more things so that we can get more and more lazy with everything. Yet it is part of just being a normal human being learning to rely on different things and each other. Well if those things break or those people can not be there then your in trouble because you don’t know what to do without help or on your own. And it can do many things to you. We rely a lot on different people and things. And we are loosing the old things we relied on for new ones. There isn't much we can do about this at all but remember how to use older things or just learn simply how to be selfreliant and be able to depend on ourselves without help of others. But we will most likly always rely on technology as it delvelops and there is practically nothing we can do about it.
Technology is overpowering. Now, in my generation people have been growing up with a constant speed of ongoing technology. Teenagers especial look to computers for advice either if it is for talking to friends, doing a project or translating a paper from english to spanish. Back in the day people did different activities in which they still have today which is swimming or riding bikes or flying kites, but now most people have chosen to replace their daily activities with the computer. In the video, the computer is known a a negative and positive thing. The student shows he wants to gain more knowledge, so he wants to click on different vocabulary words or people but nothing is happening. As everyone knows, if you usually click on a link, a whole site or page pops up. but in a textbook, especially a history textbook there is only a small amount listed or you look in the index for it and flipp to the page. In my opinion i think the world wide web is a great place where you can access school work e mails contact friends.
